How does the Rating/Ranking in CS2 work?
In Counter-Strike 2, the ranking system has undergone a complete overhaul, with a new CS rating used in Premier mode to determine your skill against other players.
In Counter-Strike 2, there are two different ranking systems: competitive ranks and the Premier Mode CS Rating . In competitive mode, players still have a rank (from Silver 1 to Global Elite) for each map . In Premier Mode, players receive a number between 0-35000 after winning 10 placement matches; this is their CS Rating .
This number changes after every match and is always visible . In Premier Mode, players cannot choose which maps they want to play; the map that gets played gets decided by a pick/ban phase .
In competitive mode, you can select the maps you want to queue for. This means that you can avoid playing the maps you don’t know or aren’t as good on In contrast, in Premier Mode, there’s a pick and ban system, and you can end up on any map in the competitive map pool .
It’s worth noting that in regular competitive matches, ranks will be determined on a per-map basis. This means that players might have different ranks for different maps, depending on their performances

The new rating system in CS2 is based on the CS Rating, which is a visible elo number adjusted strictly based on wins and losses. To receive your placement rating, you will need to win 10 games. Ratings begin at 0 and go all the way up to 35,000. Each 5000 elo is represented by a different color. You can think of the color of your rating as your ‘rank’. For example, the yellow category is like Global Elite, and the grey category is like Silver. To get a higher rating and ‘rank up’ in CS2’s Premier Mode, you simply need to win games. Once you have a rating, your performance like kills, deaths, etc. are not important. You will see at the start of a match exactly how many rating points you will earn or lose depending on the outcome of the match.
